Lowden S32 Spruce/Rosewood
The ‘S’ is the smallest model Lowden make but it certainly packs a punch. Completely re-designed by George Lowden in 2003 when making one himself as a personal custom order, it now has a shorter scale length and is noted for its clarity and definition. In rosewood with sitka spruce, it is superb as a pickers guitar.
Each Lowden guitar is made from solid tonewoods selected for their responsiveness and their beauty. George and his team of real craftsmen build Lowden guitars by hand using Japanese chisels, planes, knives and spokeshaves. It would be much more economical for them to make their guitars with assembly workers and machines, but their choice is to build skills and understanding of wood, and in so doing the guitars feel and sound like individual ‘works of art’.
